Donate

Donations are the fuel that keep The Open Door Ministry engine running.  Donations of useable goods, materials, and food are gratefully accepted as are monetary donations.  Donation receipts are available for tax purposes.

Monetary donations are vital to continued operation of The Open Door. In addition to further supporting the soup kitchen and other ministry needs that are not filled by donated items, the money is used to provide direct financial assistance to those in need for such things as heating assistance in the winter months, to prevent the termination of electrical service, or for transportation for a stranded family or to a new job interview. All requests for financial assistance are carefully screened in coordination with other county relief agencies to ensure that they are provided to the truly needy.

Monetary donations can be made by mailing a check to

Food Pantry Items Food of all types, canned, boxed, fresh, and frozen are accepted including home grown fruits and vegtables.  They are used in the preparation of wholesome meals in the Soup Kitchen and/or included in food boxes which are distributed to clients in need.  There is a special need for baby products, such as food, formula, disposable diapers, and bath items.  Also needed are paper products, such as toilet paper and paper towels, as well as cleaning supplies, such as powder laundry detergent, dish detergent, and other household cleaning supplies and pet food.  In fact, the list of needed items includes just about everything you would use to run your own home.

Second Blessing Thrift Store is a super recycle program.  Your donation of usable and resalable items are sold through the thrift store, with the proceeds going to support Ministry operations.  In addition to the types of items shown on the store page, we also welcome donations of toiletries, such as  shampoo, bath soap, deodorant, toothpaste and toothbrushes, disposable razors, shaving cream and feminine products.  These products are provided free of charge to clients as needed.
